Life on the California Trail

Third grade students have been traveling on the California Trail for the past three or four weeks!  After choosing occupations, buying supplies, packing wagons, and completing all other preparations, we started our journey in late April 1845.  Wagon trains battled cholera and dysentery, took medicine to heal snakebites, lost toes to frostbite, budgeted money, rationed supplies, forded rivers, ran out of water, traded with Indians, and more as they traveled the dangerous road.  Finally, today, we completed our journey and arrived at Sutter's Fort!  What fun activities were in store for us upon our arrival!  We got to pan for gold, sing Pioneer songs, churn butter, wash clothes, square dance, and enjoy a delicious pioneer potluck!  Enjoy the photos!

Muffins with Mom!

Thank you to all the patient moms who graciously sat under our wagons for Muffins with Mom!  Due to the rain, we moved indoors at the last minute!

Third graders love their moms!  We had a great turnout!
